Agroha Dhaam Foundation

अग्रोहा धाम · जय श्री अग्रसेन

A Canada-wide foundation for the followers of Maharaja Agrasen. We are bringing Agarwal families from every province together to build one community centre where we can gather, celebrate, learn and support one another for generations to come.

Our inspiration

Maharaja Agrasen and the city of Agroha

Maharaja Agrasen is honoured as the founder of Agroha, a city of traders in present-day Hisar, Haryana, and as the forefather of the Agarwal community. Our 18 gotras trace their origin to the yagnas he performed.

He is remembered for compassion. He stopped animal sacrifice in his kingdom, ruled by consensus, and built prosperity that was shared rather than hoarded.

The principle we follow

One brick, one coin

When a new family arrived in Agroha, every household gave them one brick and one coin. The bricks built their home. The coins started their business. Nobody had to give much, and everybody started equal.

Agroha Dhaam Foundation brings that same idea to Canada. Many small gifts from many families can build something none of us could build alone.

Our vision

A centre for every Agarwal family in Canada

Agarwal families have settled across Canada over several decades. We want a permanent place where they can meet: for festivals and Agrasen Jayanti, for weddings and family events, for youth and seniors, and for passing our culture to children born here.

Agroha Dhaam Foundation is an incorporated not-for-profit organization working at the national level: one Canada-wide body for the Agarwal Samaj, open to families from coast to coast. We take our inspiration from the original Agroha Dhaam in Hisar, Haryana, home of the Mahalakshmi Mandir and Shakti Sarovar.

We are at the very beginning, and the families who join now will shape what the centre becomes.
